What we hold, why we hold it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do about it. The Arv Review asks about your family, so this matters more here than it does on most sites.

01Who we are

KinArv is a trading name of registered company name to be confirmed, a company registered in England and Wales under company number company number to be confirmed, with its registered office at registered office address to be confirmed.

We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice. That means we decide why it is held and what happens to it. If you have a question about any of it, write to hello@kinarv.com.

02What this notice covers

This notice covers the information we collect through kinarv.com, including the Arv Review, and through the conversations that follow from it. It explains what we hold, why we hold it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do about it.

It does not cover other websites you reach from links on ours. Those sites have their own notices, and we are not responsible for them.

03What we collect

What you tell us in the Arv Review

The review asks about how your family and its wealth are organised: how decisions get made, what is written down, what the next generation knows. Your answers stay in your browser tab while you work through it, so you can close the page without leaving anything behind and pick it up again if you return.

We receive a record of those answers so that we can see where the review is useful and where it is not. That record does not carry your name or your email address unless you give one to us.

What you give us directly

If you ask for the one-page analysis, we hold the email address you give us and the analysis we send. If you write to us or book a conversation, we hold your name, your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us.

Technical information

Our hosting and, where it is switched on, our analytics collect the ordinary technical detail of a visit: the pages you looked at, the approximate location your connection resolves to, your device and browser, and the site that sent you to us. We use it to keep the site working and secure, and to understand which parts of it people read.

04Information about other people

The Arv Review is deliberately built so that you never have to name anyone else. It asks about patterns, not people, and it does not ask for details of your children, your relatives, your advisers or your assets.

Please keep it that way. Do not enter names, account details or anything else that identifies another person, and do not include information about anyone's health, beliefs, politics or private life. If you send us that kind of detail in a message, we will hold it only for as long as we need it to answer you.

05Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for everything we do with your information. Ours are set out below.

WhatWhyLawful basis
Your answers to the Arv Review Producing your analysis, and understanding where the review works Our legitimate interest in running and improving what we offer
Your email address Sending you the one-page analysis, and anything you have asked us to follow up on Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Your name, contact details and messages Answering you, arranging a conversation and keeping a record of it Our legitimate interest in responding to people who approach us
Technical and usage information Keeping the site available, secure and worth reading Our legitimate interest in a site that works
Records we are required to keep Meeting our own legal and accounting obligations Legal obligation

Where we rely on a legitimate interest, we have considered whether it is fair to you, and you can object at any time. Where we rely on consent, withdrawing it is a single line to hello@kinarv.com, and it does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

06Who sees it

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

It is handled by the suppliers who run the parts of our operation that we do not run ourselves: hosting, email, scheduling, analytics and our customer records. They act on our instructions and are not free to use it for their own purposes.

Part of what we do is point families towards independent specialists: lawyers, tax advisers, structuring specialists and others. We recommend them in our analysis, and we introduce you only if you ask us to. Nothing about your family goes to a third party as part of that unless you have agreed to the introduction.

We will also share information where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

07Where it is held

We are based in the United Kingdom, and some of our suppliers hold information outside it. Where they do, we rely on the transfer mechanisms UK law recognises: an adequacy decision covering the country in question, or the International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

If you would like the detail for a particular supplier, ask us and we will tell you.

08How long we keep it

An assessment you begin and do not finish is kept for retention period for unfinished assessments to be confirmed, then deleted.

A completed assessment, and the analysis that came out of it, is kept for retention period for completed assessments to be confirmed from your last contact with us, so that a later conversation starts from what you have already told us rather than from nothing.

Correspondence is kept for as long as the relationship is live and for a reasonable period afterwards. Records we are obliged to keep for tax or accounting are kept for the period the law requires.

09Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of what we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete what we hold, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
  • stop or limit what we are doing with it;
  • send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable form; or
  • stop relying on a legitimate interest, if you object to it.

Write to hello@kinarv.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first, so that we have a chance to put it right.

10Cookies and local storage

The Arv Review uses your browser's session storage to hold your answers while you work through it. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to us with every request, and it disappears when you close the tab.

Beyond that we use only what the site needs to function, together with analytics that tell us which pages are read. Where analytics require your consent, we ask for it before they run, and the site works if you decline.

11Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to our records is limited to the people who need it, and our suppliers are chosen on the strength of their own security as much as their product.

No system is perfect, and email in particular is not a secure channel. Please do not send account numbers, identity documents or anything else sensitive by email. If you need to send us something of that kind, ask us first and we will arrange a safer route.

12Changes to this notice

We update this notice when what we do changes. The date at the top of the page tells you when it last changed. If a change materially affects you, and we hold a way of reaching you, we will tell you directly.

13How to contact us

For anything in this notice, write to hello@kinarv.com, or to registered company name to be confirmed at registered office address to be confirmed.
